Hailey Hanestad was five years old when her dad brought her a surprise. Haily’s family lived on a ranch in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, so Hailey was pretty familiar with animals, but that made her no less delighted when her father brought her a furry bundle of joy. It’s baffling what some wild animals can endure on their own. Their lives are difficult enough, and there’s no need for human hands to make them even harder. But it seems the human race will do just about anything to ensure that they remain at the top of the food chain when it comes to living in other animals’ territories. The staff at Animal Rescue Team recently rescued a coyote who had endured the worst. She had survived a 30-foot plunge into one of California’s largest rivers, endured dehydration, had exposure to poison and, even took gunshot to the head. The gunshot had rendered her blind, which was probably how she fell into the river in the first place.
