It’s not uncommon to read or watch content that describes Pit Bull dogs as vicious, aggressive, or dangerous. But the truth is far from that. In reality, a temperament study found that Pit Bulls scored second highest in terms of tolerance. So where does all the unfair bias come from? In an effort to combat these ideas, this YouTuber conducted a social experiment where he walked through the same neighborhood twice – once with a Pit Bull and the other with an Australian Shepherd. The frightened and sometimes painfully, downright ignorant responses to the Pit Bull only proves the upsetting stereotyping against these loving dogs! Taking a dog home from the shelter is an exciting time for everyone involved. The dog gets to benefit the most from finding a new home, especially if he’s spent a long time in the shelter. So when Fido the pit bull is finally adopted and gets to go home, he never expected that this would happen. Fido got to tell his whole story from shelter to his new home in the form of a song, and a very famous song, in fact. He’d even been to some other adoption homes before, and they just didn’t work out, until he finally found his forever parent to take him home. When you think of police dog, you imagine the German Shepherd with a vest on. But things are slowly changing in police departments and you may start seeing a new face on the streets. And that face could belong to a pit bull. With the number of them that are in shelters, it’s about time that they were given jobs that they’re good at that eliminate the stereotypes of the breed. Thousands of pit bulls are euthanized every year, so it’s great that the Animal Farm Project is taking it upon themselves to help train these animals so that they can give to society. They’re just as capable of doing the job as any German Shepherd or Belgian Malinois, and it gives them a new life where they can feel fulfilled and loved. It can be a struggle to get a stray dog to adapt to a new situation. Shelters can be scary and filled with other dogs who don’t want to be there either, and that can make the entire situation stressful. But this pooch had a different kind of life in mind when she was brought in from off the streets. Star was taken in by a shelter and instantly went to work as an adoptive mother when there were nine puppies who had no one to care for them. Her maternal instincts kicked in and provided them with the affection they needed, after watching their own mother die. The bond was instantaneous, and now they all have a better chance at finding the lives that they deserve. Take a look at this family! It’s thanks to the efforts of those who work in shelters that can make their lives easier. A ten year old dog was recently brought in to a shelter, barely skin and bones. His muscles were atrophied and his ribs and hips were clearly sticking out. There’s clearly a medical reason for his emaciation and the shelter staff are trying desperately to discover what it is so that they can get him the proper treatment. It may take some time before he’s fully recovered, but at least he’ll learn the meaning of what it is to be loved by a human being. Pit bull adopt kittens A couple years back, Shannon’s family grew unexpectedly when her Sharpei-pitbull mix, Asia, gave birth to a puppy named Raider. But it’s what happened next that shocked her to no end. Soon after Asia gave birth, Shannon volunteered to take care of three tiny kittens who were left on her friend’s front porch. She mentally prepared herself for lots of late nights and bottle-feeding. But the second she returned home with the newborn babies, Asia started acting peculiar. The big dog couldn’t take her eyes off of them — and an incredible relationship began to form. From that day forward, Asia stepped in to take care of the kittens. That’s just what this sweet Pit Bull here did on Tuesday morning, when she got loose from her owner. According to  a post on the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office Facebook page , Officer Larry Taylor was out in his brand new police car when he got what was described as  “a very unexpected visitor.” A dog ran and jumped right in when the door was opened and she made herself all comfortable in his passenger seat. Her owner was located, came and was able to get her out. That is after she spent some time with Officer Taylor writing a police report. Murdock the Pit Bull puppy was born with a disorder that caused him blindness. But even though he is blind, Murdock doesn’t let his blindness hold him back. Murdock was rescued by  Fresno Bully Rescue , and his foster mom,  Noelani Guerrero , helped him along the way. Murdock’s foster mom thinks that he is very inspiring, and so do we! Murdock may be blind, but he loves to explore his surroundings. Since he doesn’t have eyes for that, he uses his nose instead, which we think is pretty incredible. Rami the dog is one of the most unlikely mix-breeds we’ve ever seen. This energetic 1-year-old pup, a cross between a pitbull and a dachshund, is being offered for adoption by the Moultrie Colquitt County Humane Society in the state of Georgia in the U.S. His origin is unclear, but he’s currently in the process of being cleared for adoption by vets. The humane society says he’s an energetic guy that loves to run but currently isn’t very well-trained. Rami is an energetic 1-year-old puppy, He’s half pitbull, half dachshund, and all speed.

A pitbull mom separated from her cubs sought human help until he could recover. When caregivers animal shelter received a call from residents of a suburb of New Orleans, they did not think they would find this pitbull mom so malnourished and abandoned.

The Poughkeepsie Police Department (a small city north of New York City) is getting a new officer this week. Like most police dogs, she is well-muscled and sleek. Unlike most k9s, she’s just 60 pounds with a smiling mouth, lolling tongue and a lovely caramel-and-white coat. Kiah is not just fighting crime, but also stereotypes as she becomes the first-ever pit bull to be “employed” by the police department. She graduates from a special K9 training school this Friday. She is one of the dogs from Animal Farm Foundation (AFF), a non-profit animal rescue and advocacy group that is dedicated to ending pit bull stereotypes. AFF partnered with Universal K9 and Austin Pets Alive! to rescue pitties and then train them for police detection work. Kiah is going to be one of the first graduates of this special program.
