To escape the loneliness that comes with being utterly alone in life, these orphaned kids of Robindra Shorbod Park in Bangladesh have formed familial relationships with stray dogs. The life on the streets can be a terrifying prospect especially for kids who have no families to call their own. But they don't call a dog a man's best friend without reason. Hence, the unconditional bonds forged with the other dwellers of the streets - the strays that roam around the alleys, alone and afraid - comfort not only the kids but also the dogs, the desperate seekers of love and companionship. So when photographer Sam Edmonds visited Bangladesh, he found the existence of a makeshift family created between the children and the dogs in Dhaka, as reported by  Mail Online . In Wildersville, Tennessee, a man who had been living in the forest for the past 16 years, accepted the help of the Animal Rescue Corps on Saturday and surrendered his 31 dogs. Living deep in the woods of Natchez Trace State Park, located approximately 120 miles northeast of Memphis, health issues convinced the man to accept the help of local residents and the ARC. None of the dogs had been vaccinated, three showed signs of serious leg injuries, and all had internal and external parasites. ARC President Scotlund Haisley stated, “He wasn’t going to abandon the dogs and accept the help for himself without first finding a group to take the dogs. We are very glad to be able to assist." A man and his 11 dogs began a journey across America with nothing other than a bike, a cart and a sense of family. Now, more than 2,000 miles later, the family is still going strong and they finally have a home to call their own. In 2001, Steve first joined the many other humans and animals around the world who are without a home. Since then, he has picked up any stray dog he has come across and welcomed them into his roaming family. Even without many financial resources, Steve still has plenty of love as well as an incredible ability to care for these dogs who would otherwise be abandoned. Over the past 14 years, Steve has cared for over 50 homeless dogs. At one point, Steve embarked on a journey from California to Indiana. An emaciated and poorly dog was found in Newport after being neglected, abused and dumped. The dog was found in a collapsed, weak state and had been tied to a bin with a heavy chain at Hartridge Farm Road. The male springer spaniel - approximately four-years-old - was rushed to a vets. The poor dog was emaciated, and his eyes were closed due to thick green pus. He was unable to stand due to his poor health. Sadly on veterinary advice the dog was put to sleep. Perhaps the most selfless thing anyone can do is to risk one’s own life to save another. For David “Krockett” Krieger, a 53-year-old man, the life he saved was that of a dog he didn’t even know. On December 11, 2015, Krieger, whose passion was helping lost dogs, sacrificed his own life when he witnessed a man brutally beating and kicking a dog in a parking lot and stepped in to defend the helpless animal. In return for his gesture, Krieger was fatally shot, twice. Krieger and his wife, Ashlie, had two dogs of their own, a golden Labrador and Trout and a Labrador Terrier mix named Sophie. His family and friends said that not only did Krieger love his own dogs as if they were his own children, but that he had a passion for helping lost dogs in his neighborhood, rescuing them and returning them home or assisting strays to shelter. On a memorial Facebook page set up after his death, Krieger, who goes by “Krockett” to friends and family,  is remembered as a hero to animals. ”...

On Monday evening, shelter staff from DeKalb County Animal Services in Georgia reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC when a dog barely able to stand and in excruciating pain was found hunched over in a nearby parking lot. Dubbed Sebastian, the emaciated, five-year-old pit bull mix had lost his will to live. Curled up in the back corner of his shelter kennel, he didn't want to drink, eat or move. The compassionate shelter personnel even tried to tempt him with bits of hot dogs and Chik-fil-A. If it was ever thought a dog just wanted to die, that seemed to have been Sebastian's wish. This is such an unbelievable story that I couldn’t get through the video without crying. Here, we meet an elderly veteran from Delaware who, back in September of 2015, suffered a heart attack. Due to his necessary hospital stay, the man was unable to care for his two beloved dogs, Bailey and Blaze. Enter the First State Animal Center and SPCA, a shelter located inside a PetSmart store. The shelter volunteered to take care of Bailey and Blaze until the owner (whose name has not been identified) was released from the hospital and back on his feet. But weeks went by. Still, the man was too ill to care for the dogs, and so the pups were eventually put up for adoption. But fate had plans of its own. When the owner was released from the hospital, he breathed a heavy sigh of relief; surprisingly, Bailey and Blaze were still sitting there in the shelter.
