Mauco Abeiro, 9, was outside playing with his little brother last week near their home in Guaymallen, Argentina, when the boys came across an injured dog. The dog looked like it had a broken leg. Mauco carried the dog back home even though his family had very little to survive on. Marco’s mother, Laura, said she told her boys they could not have pets because they were in a bad economic situation themselves. Mauco told his mother that he would sell his skateboard and take this dog to the vet. Mauco went on Facebook to sell the skateboard , one of his favorite toys. He simply asked for someone to buy his skateboard from him. He said he found the poor dog on the street and it was hurt. If someone could buy his skateboard, he could take the injured dog to the vet. Not many people were interested in the skateboard, but Mauco’s post did go viral. It was shared thousands of times. We make fun of the ‘crazy cat lady’! Did you know there is a woman in India that cares for 400 dogs?! She is far from crazy! Pratima Devi is 65-years-old and has taken it upon herself to care for 400 stray dogs in New Delhi. India has an incredible number of stray dogs and in 2001 a law was passed that said killing strays was illegal; residents often feed the dogs, but the strays are not spayed or neutered, so the problem continues to grow. Pratima was miserable in her marriage, so she left her husband and now cares for the homeless dogs. One of her sons tried to get her to come back to her village, but she refused. Pratima is much happier caring for her dogs. Vivek, an 18-year-old boy, lives nearby and helps Pratima with the dogs every day. He has been helping her for two years. Pratima and Vivek make sure the dogs are all clean, fed and have their injuries properly treated. They even get the dogs vaccinated. The dogs eat three times a day! Their diet is milk, meat, and rice. ...

Teaching students handy skills can make all the difference in the world when they’re teenagers. It provides them with the lessons and talents that they can use when they get out into the real world and are seeking jobs to help them earn money. But very few jobs actually end up giving back to the community as much as this teacher’s shop class did. In Jacksonville, Florida, one shop teacher was helping his students learn the fundamentals of construction by teaching them to build dog houses. Barry Stewart is a Building Construction teacher who has been doing this for the past fourteen years, and his class has provided many homes to dogs and feral cats. The houses that are made are donated to the local shelter and families with pets who are in need. Not only do the families who receive these dog houses are free are thankful for the gifts that make their pets more comfortable, but the students get to learn house construction on a much smaller scale. A baby moose got stranded on the highway and didn’t know where to go or how to start, plus he was thirsty, but he didn’t know that he was about to make some unlikely friends. The baby moose’s mother was nowhere in sight, but when he looked harder, he saw a group of tough bikers coming towards him. The group of bikers stopped and did the most incredible thing! One of the bikers, who had a bottle of Gatorade in his hand, walked to the baby moose because he knew that he’d be thirsty and he let the baby drink it. At first the baby moose was hesitant because he didn’t know what to expect, but he couldn’t resist! Gatorade is safe for animals to drink and that’s not the best part – it quenched his thirst! This is the story of a woman called Sheila Lawrence, who her husband nicknamed “feeder” because of her love to feed all kinds of birds. But Sheila also had another nickname – the “Swan Lady” as she used to feed hundreds of swans on the Mississippi for 25 long years. Sheila would walk all the way to the river banks and feed the swans, but five years ago, something terrible happened. Sheila, who was diagnosed with cancer, passed away, but before she passed away, she made her husband promise that he’d feed the swans for her. Her husband, Jim Lawrence earned the nickname “Swan Lady Man” and he has continued his wife’s legacy. He brings 200 bushels of corn to feed her swans! Now take a look at this beautiful video below. The ivory trade has been running rampant for decades now, and these poor gentle giants suffer immensely at the hands of it. Hundreds, if not thousands, of elephants are killed every year for their tusks to be sawed off and sold on the black market. This can leave many baby elephants without the mothers they need to take care of them, and they end up dying as well. It can be difficult to track down these poachers and see that they’re brought to justice, but one woman is taking the task into her own hands to ensure that these creatures are no longer mistreated and murdered for their tusks. Since 1977, Dr. Dame Daphne Sheldrick has taken it upon herself to raise the elephant orphans who have suffered both physical and emotional injuries from the loss of their mothers. Dr. Andy Mathis, a veterinarian in Elberton, Georgia, was about to leave the hospital for the night. Right at closing time, however, a woman called about a starving dog she found on a county dirt road. Dr. Mathis told her to bring the dog in so he could take a look at her. The woman arrived at Granite Hills Animal Care with a gray pit bull in horrible condition. This dog was emaciated, anemic, hypothermic, and was suffering from a severe vaginal prolapse. Dr. Mathis wasn’t sure if she would make it, so he turned to his fellow animal lovers on Facebook for help and support. “So I had 2 choices,” Dr. Mathis wrote on Facebook. “I can put her to sleep. Or try to save her. So I asked the universe … also known as Facebook … and the universe said ‘Try.’ The universe even named her as they said, ‘we hate the thought that any pet gets sent to rainbow bridge or passes away without a name,’ so they christened her Graycie Clair. Ken began to feed and care for street dogs and cats because … “I felt sorry for the dogs with no owners while other dogs around the world are being pampered,” Ken told Pet360 in an email back in 2014. “it wasn’t really fair. GLEN ROSE, TX (WCMH)— Last August, Snickers the dog saved her family by waking them up when the RV they were sleeping in caught fire. Now she needs someone to save her. According to CBS DFW , Snickers, a 1-year-old shar pei mix was credited with saving her family that night, but that same family recently moved and couldn’t take her with them. She was placed in the Glen Rose Animal Shelter in Texas. According to shelter workers, there has been little to no interest in adopting her in the last month, and if she isn’t found a home soon they will have to euthanize her. “She’s a brave girl that saved her family and I don’t understand how nobody would want a dog like that,” Animal Control Officer Loretta Adams told CBS DFW. “She could potentially save your life” Adams is hoping they won’t have to euthanize Snickers, but they may have no choice. “We’ll be forced to do what we have to do,” she...

There are quite a number of animal rescue organizations in the world, but there are still not enough to rescue all the suffering animals in the streets. Hope For Paws, is one of such organizations who have been trying their hardest to rescue human’s best friends from the streets and even shelter. This video below features one of their dramatic rescues and this will break your heart! Venus, a Coastal German Shepherd was abandoned in the desert and left to die. Poor Venus was overheated, exhausted and starving when Eldad and Hope for Paws team spotted her. She was so very terrified of humans that she didn’t even want to go near humans and the team had hard time rescuing her. For four months some kindhearted strangers had fed Venus but she refused to let anyone get close enough to capture her. So the team had to use a tranquilizer to capture her. Eugene Bostick may have officially retired about 15 years ago, but in some ways that was when his most impactful work began. Not long after, he embarked on a new career path of sorts — as a train conductor for rescued stray dogs. The lively 80-year-old Fort Worth, Texas, native says he never planned on dedicating his golden years to helping needy pets. Instead, it was a duty thrust upon him by the heartlessness of others. "We live down on a dead-end street, where me and my brother have a horse barn," Bostick told The Dodo. "People sometimes come by and dump dogs out here, leaving them to starve. So, we started feeding them, letting them in, taking them to the vet to get them spayed and neutered. We made a place for them to live." Over the years, Bostick has taken in countless abandoned dogs. With an estimated 150,000 cats and dogs roaming its streets, Istanbul, Turkey, has more strays than its government knows how to handle. Despite these overwhelming numbers, one woman does her very best to help the city's animals. Vera, a resident of the city's coastal Kartal district, takes care of the 350 or so stray cats that live on the region's the rocky shore, providing them with the food and medical care they so desperately need. During the winter, when food is scarce, Vera tries to feed the cats every day, bringing up to 50 lbs. of food down to the water. Luckily, she doesn't have to endure the frigid temperatures alone, having started a volunteer organization, the Atalar Sahili Cat Neutering Group , to help care for the cats. A caring lady has given up her home to more than 1,000 felines. Lynea Lattanzio, 67, of Parlier, California, now lives in a trailer on her six acre property and allows the cats to run freely through the five bedroom house. She started fostering cats in 1992 after a divorce and acquired 96 by the end of the year - successfully rehoming all of them. In 1993 she became a veterinary technician to help keep the animals' medical costs down and the number of cats continued to grow. Today she runs Cat House On The Kings which is California's largest no-cage, no kill sanctuary for feral and abandoned cats. Lynea, who was banned by her mother from keeping a cat as a child, said: 'I'm at the top of the list of eccentric cat ladies - I don't think there has been anyone who has lived with 28,000 cats in 24 years.
