Rami the dog is one of the most unlikely mix-breeds we’ve ever seen. This energetic 1-year-old pup, a cross between a pitbull and a dachshund, is being offered for adoption by the Moultrie Colquitt County Humane Society in the state of Georgia in the U.S. His origin is unclear, but he’s currently in the process of being cleared for adoption by vets. The humane society says he’s an energetic guy that loves to run but currently isn’t very well-trained. Rami is an energetic 1-year-old puppy, He’s half pitbull, half dachshund, and all speed.

DON’T FEED YOUR DOG THAT! 15 Human Foods To Avoid – MUST SEE!

Alot of good-hearted dog owners like to feed their furry friend from the table – especially if their dog knows how to give them a big, brown-eyed “feed me” look. But even though your dog might think everything tastes great, there are a bunch of food they absolutely should not eat! Please read on, and SHARE this with any dog lover you know! No. 1: Chocolate Chocolate contains Theobromine, which is sort of like caffeine. Too much Theobromine can be toxic, especially to smaller dogs. So definitely keep this away out of their reach! No. 2: Grapes or Rasins No one really knows why grapes are poisonous to dogs, but when in doubt, keep them far away from your pooch! If your dog starts to vomit, or loses her appetite or seems weak after possibly ingesting grapes or raisins, take her to the vet immediately. No. 3: Avocados Besides the fact that they could possibly ingest the pit, your dog can’t tolerate Persin, which is a toxin in all avocados. It doesn’t affect humans, but can be

Brave Man Dies Defending Dog He Didn’t Even Know From Abuser

Perhaps the most selfless thing anyone can do is to risk one’s own life to save another. For David “Krockett” Krieger, a 53-year-old man, the life he saved was that of a dog he didn’t even know. On December 11, 2015, Krieger, whose passion was helping lost dogs, sacrificed his own life when he witnessed a man brutally beating and kicking a dog in a parking lot and stepped in to defend the helpless animal. In return for his gesture, Krieger was fatally shot, twice. Krieger and his wife, Ashlie, had two dogs of their own, a golden Labrador and Trout and a Labrador Terrier mix named Sophie. His family and friends said that not only did Krieger love his own dogs as if they were his own children, but that he had a passion for helping lost dogs in his neighborhood, rescuing them and returning them home or assisting strays to shelter. On a memorial Facebook page set up after his death, Krieger, who goes by “Krockett” to friends and family,  is remembered as a hero to animals. ”Kroc

His body destroyed by unimaginable neglect, defeated dog fights for his life

On Monday evening, shelter staff from DeKalb County Animal Services in Georgia reached out to Rescue Dogs Rock NYC when a dog barely able to stand and in excruciating pain was found hunched over in a nearby parking lot. Dubbed Sebastian, the emaciated, five-year-old pit bull mix had lost his will to live. Curled up in the back corner of his shelter kennel, he didn't want to drink, eat or move. The compassionate shelter personnel even tried to tempt him with bits of hot dogs and Chik-fil-A. If it was ever thought a dog just wanted to die, that seemed to have been Sebastian's wish. Stacey Silverstein, founder of the New York City rescue, which specializes in cruelty, abuse, neglect and the most urgent dogs who need immediate medical care refused to hear of it, and arranged immediate transportation to the organization's participating emergency veterinarian partner in Fayetteville. On Tuesday afternoon, Sebastian arrived at the veterinary hospital and is now being treat

Surprised Veteran Learns He’ll Get His Beloved Dogs Back After Hospital Stay

This is such an unbelievable story that I couldn’t get through the video without crying. Here, we meet an elderly veteran from Delaware who, back in September of 2015, suffered a heart attack. Due to his necessary hospital stay, the man was unable to care for his two beloved dogs, Bailey and Blaze. Enter the First State Animal Center and SPCA, a shelter located inside a PetSmart store. The shelter volunteered to take care of Bailey and Blaze until the owner (whose name has not been identified) was released from the hospital and back on his feet. But weeks went by. Still, the man was too ill to care for the dogs, and so the pups were eventually put up for adoption. But fate had plans of its own. When the owner was released from the hospital, he breathed a heavy sigh of relief; surprisingly, Bailey and Blaze were still sitting there in the shelter. So the man went to the shelter with every intention of getting his dogs back — but he needed a few more days to gather up the adoptio

Deaf Shelter Dog Cries Alone After Her Best Friend Is Adopted

Any time a shelter animal finds his or her forever home, it's always a cause for celebration — except, of course, for those they leave behind. For the better part of a year, this deaf pit bull named Marshmallow had shared a kennel with her best friend, Scooby, at Unleashed Pet Rescue, in Kansas. There, amid the uncertainty of a life without a family, the pair were able to find solace and joy in one another. But sadly for Marshmallow, that recently all changed. Earlier this week, Scooby's long wait at the rescue shelter came to an end as she was selected by a loving family, but unfortunately they were not able to take in Marshmallow as well. Suddenly on her own for the first time in months, the lonely pup was inconsolable. "Marshmallow is crying and has been non stop since yesterday," Unleashed Pet Rescue wrote on Facebook. "Her roommate and best friend Scooby was adopted, she is very confused and sad. What she needs is a forever home to heal her heart.&

Shy Shelter Dog FLIPS OUT After Realizing He's Been Adopted

Much has been written about the impact adoption can have on the life of an unloved shelter pet — but words pale in comparison to seeing that unbridled joy first hand. Up until recently, a sweet but shy dog named Benny had no idea what the future had in store for him, or how close he came to seeing his cut short. As a resident of the Carson Animal Care Center, a high-kill shelter in Gardena, California, all he could do was sit and wait for someone to come along and save him, which he did week after week with no success. But then that all changed. Earlier this month, Benny was finally adopted by a loving family. His reaction upon realizing that happy fact? Priceless. While Benny's story has a positive ending, sadly, there are millions of shelter dogs like him desperately awaiting their own. To learn about adopting a pet, or to find out other ways you can help, visit your local animal shelter.

Dog Saved From Ice By Three Firefighters In A Small Boat

Little Boo likes to make the rounds every night to say hello to all of his friends in the neighborhood. The 13-year-old dog is very popular, and just about everyone in the whole neighborhood considers him a best friend. So when neighbors started to hear what sounded like the beloved pooch “screaming for help,” they grew more and more concerned when they realized he was missing. Suddenly, when they looked out into the lake, they saw little Boo struggling for his life on the ice. There’s no known reason why Boo ventured out onto the ice; maybe he saw an animal and chased it, or maybe he got confused. No matter what the reasons, all that mattered at that moment was that Boo needed help, fast. Finally a group of firemen showed up, and when they saw Boo clinging to life, they knew it was going to be a difficult rescue. In spite of the odds against them, they found a small boat, and began chipping away at the ice. Slowly but surely these men began to inch their way closer to the desp

Puppy Rescued From Drain Reunited With Mother Dog

At just a day old, a tiny puppy had fallen into a drain pipe as her worried mother looked on in fear. Nicole McCormick with the Arizona Humane Society spent nearly 10 hours with Phoenix police, trying to rescue the poor baby. The puppy spent the entire night barking from underground, but her sounds and whimpers echoed throughout every pipe, making it even more difficult to find her actual location. Police were called to an abandoned house by neighbors who saw a stray mother dog and her newborn pups. When police arrived, Mama was so excited that she accidentally knocked one of her three puppies into a sewage pipe! Needless to say, the mother dog spent the next 24 hours in a state of anxiety and stress. Meanwhile, a plumbing company was called to the scene and used a small camera to locate the puppy, who was found 23 feet from the pipe’s opening. After seeing how small the pipe was, it’s a miracle that the tiny dog actually survived — but survive she did! Nicole quickly stuck her

Man Takes Beloved Dog On The Most Incredible Journey Through Life

“When someone you love walks through the door, even if it happens five times a day, you should go totally insane with joy.” The video below, entitled “Denali,” is told from the point of view of a dog. It’s a gorgeous expression of love, gratitude, and friendship — and the journey a dog named Denali took with his owner, surfer/photographer Ben Moon. It was unexpected love at first sight when Ben first met Denali, but it was undeniable. After Ben and his girlfriend broke up, Ben left Portland, OR to begin living as a free-spirited nomad in the high deserts of Bend, OR. Denali went, too. In fact, he everywhere with Ben. From hikes to beaches, the bonded duo traveled throughout the western United States. It was a life full of adventure, freedom, and joy. In June 2004, tragedy struck. Ben was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Denali stood faithfully by his side, refusing to leave the hospital room. Throughout the surgeries, treatments, and procedures, there was Denali, resting gently

There’s Nothing Cuter Than These Sleepy Newborn Pugs

Just like human babies, puppies spend most of their time sleeping — and it’s usually pretty adorable. With a whimsical nighttime melody playing in the background, six teeny tiny pug puppies lay in a row and blissfully fall fast asleep on their backs. They all twitch as they drift slowly off and begin to have sweet dream. The one cute pug on the end even sticks his tiny tongue out and is so irresistibly cute. He is so zonked out that he has no idea his tongue is hanging out and flapping with each baby breath. By the looks of it, these pugs will sleep anywhere, like this gentle giant who loves his tiny dog bed, especially after an afternoon of playtime together. Have you ever seen anything this sweet?! The old saying “let sleeping dogs lie” definitely started for a reason, as you can see with these cute canines who just can’t get enough Z’s. If you love dogs, this video is guaranteed to put a smile on your face. But be warned: It might make you want to curl up for a nap of you

First Beagle Dogs Born by In Vitro Fertilization (IVF)

These cubs are the first Beagle dogs born by IVF After 30 years, scientists have discovered how to create healthy puppies in the laboratory. I found this article as cool in Smithsonian.com and I decided to translate it to share it with you because I believe that this development will be important and is a very curious issue that surely many do not have thought, even though they are carried decades researching. Restless young pups barking in the laboratory of Alexander Travis, do not speak a medical Marvilla, however, they are. These are the first dogs peludines born through IVF after three decades of research, to develop in dogs. IVF involves the fertilization of an egg with sperm in a laboratory, and is a process that we have done successfully in humans since the 70's. But scientists have been struggling for 30 years to achieve the same with dogs.

Rescue Dog Makes History As The First Ever K9 Pit Bull In NY!

The Poughkeepsie Police Department (a small city north of New York City) is getting a new officer this week. Like most police dogs, she is well-muscled and sleek. Unlike most k9s, she’s just 60 pounds with a smiling mouth, lolling tongue and a lovely caramel-and-white coat. Kiah is not just fighting crime, but also stereotypes as she becomes the first-ever pit bull to be “employed” by the police department. She graduates from a special K9 training school this Friday. She is one of the dogs from Animal Farm Foundation (AFF), a non-profit animal rescue and advocacy group that is dedicated to ending pit bull stereotypes. AFF partnered with Universal K9 and Austin Pets Alive! to rescue pitties and then train them for police detection work. Kiah is going to be one of the first graduates of this special program. In addition to detection, Kiah has shown prowess in sniffing out humans, so she will be used for missing person searches. The breed doesn’t matter, says officer Justin Bru

Canine anxiety: why my dog destroys everything when alone?

Canine anxiety is usually one of the initial problems in the home, which angers people living with the animal and do not know how to fix this, or do not have the resources. The first thing is to know where the canine anxiety that comes, know why your attitude is what can help you to improve, is the first step to improvement. Normally and often this problem is usually due to lack of exercise, it is very easy to get the canine anxiety if you do not get what they need, sometimes we think we give them what they want, but it is not. Dogs need long walks half an hour, for three times a day, and sometimes, these animals, depending on their size and power, they need more, so feel nervous and make disasters at home. You understand that not always the canine anxiety is only by exercise, each case must be dealt with certainty as has happened, so as you know, the first step is to know the reason.

Vincent, the Cat Claw Titanium

Vincent is a cat of the United States who was born without hind legs and was abandoned by the same, but fortunately was rescued by an animal shelter in Iowa. By his condition was impossible for anyone to take. Fortunately, one of the volunteers in the shelter he talked to his daughter's situation Vincent and the daughter, who is studying veterinary medicine, got in touch with Dr. Mary Sarah Bergh, who teaches at the University of Iowa and surgeon orthopedic vet, who became interested in the case of Vincent. The Bergh doctor implanted a titanium pair of legs cat, one of the most advanced procedures in veterinary and today it is estimated that only two dozen animals have been faced with a similar intervention. The complexity of this surgery is that each implant is screwed to the femur, exposing part of the bone to the environment, this requires special care and antibiotic treatment twice daily. The advantage of this surgery is that over time the legs of titanium can be adapt

This guy proposed to his girlfriend with a puppy and we can't control our tears

What’s more romantic than an engagement ring? An engagement puppy.  Obviously.  Wait a hot second. Are engagement puppies an actual thing? They are now, apparently. In a video recently posted to YouTube, Shelby Turner‘s ultra-amazing boyfriend surprises her with a puppy. And oh yeah, the adorable dog also came with a proposal. This guy was already a total contender for the boyfriend of the year award (we know there’s no such thing, but still…) when he turned up with a sweet chocolate lab puppy, complete with a precious pink polka dot bow around its neck. But then he told Shelby to check the little dog’s name tag and SPOILER ALERT it wasn’t a tag at all. It was an engagement ring. OUR HEARTS. Shelby basically dissolved into a puddle of happy tears. Not that we blame her one bit.

Volunteers Save Dog Who Was Almost Starved To Death

With Christmas right around the corner, spirits are high, with families planning trips, gifts, and time together, but sometimes we forget about our furry little pets. Take Angel as an example: she was one of the worst cases of neglect Rescue From The Hart, a Los-Angeles based dog rescue, has ever seen.  For months, someone was starving Angel, and by the time she was rescued, she was near death. But the people at Rescue From The Hart didn't give up on her. What started off as a bag of bones eventually turned into a gorgeous, happy pup because of the love and nurture of volunteers. As we celebrate Christmas, we should all give thanks for the people who dedicate themselves to rescuing the dogs that we sometimes forget.
