In the wild, there are people who go hunting for sport, and many of them use traps in order to catch their targets. But oftentimes, these traps can lead to disastrous results, and other animals are prone to being caught in these devices than those they were intending. Division of Wildlife Resources officer Mark Elkins came across a mountain lion and discovered that something was wrong. It’s front paw was stuck in a trap meant for coyotes and bobcats, and the trap had been chained to a tree. Elkins had seen this many times before, and he knew he had the get the creature out. Take a look at this video With some assistance, he managed to get the mountain lion restrained so that he could remove the trap by hand, and it was only a matter of time before the cat took off on its own to go and lick its wounds. UPDATE : ADOPTED! It can be a difficult time going to a shelter and finding a dog to take home with you. Seeing all of their beautiful faces and winning dispositions makes it hard to leave with just one. But Obi, the fluffy-faced German Shepherd hasn’t yet found his forever home. He was found wandering the streets and was taken to an animal control facility, where his family never came to claim him. He was then taken in by the Southern California German Shepherd Rescue, thinking that he would have a better chance with them. Sadly, he’s still there a year later, and at the ripe age of seven, is still looking for a forever home . Getting a new puppy can be exciting, as long as you have the patience to are for it properly. Investing the time and money into caring for your new puppy may seem a little annoying at first, but you know that you’re doing the best for them. A fourteen-week old Maltese Shih Tzu mix puppy, Jake, was left outside in his yard one morning, and then went missing. His owner did everything he could, and eventually found poor Jake hours later, covered in mud and debris by the side of the road. Little Jake refused to lift his tail, and showed signs that he was in pain. After taking him to the hospital, the vet theorized that Jake may have been sexually abused. Take a look at this pup The authorities are hoping that someone will come forward on what may have happened, but we’re sure his owner is just glad to have little Jake back, safe and sound. Dogs who have good homes are abandoned almost every single day for a variety of reasons, but there are always better alternatives than dumping them by the road. Perhaps they don’t want to pay the surrender fee, but it’s a small price to pay to ensure that an animal is kept safe. But not for this pooch. A homeowner discovered this poor dog in a crate, abandoned near his property, and he alerted animal control officers. The dog was found covered in untreated mange and mites, and was also exposed to direct sunlight throughout the day. There was no food or water either, so the poor animal would have likely died very quickly. Take a look at this pooch Thankfully, the one-year old pit mix has been taken in to recover from her ordeal while the authorities are asking anyone to come forward with any information they have on who may have owned the dog originally. Humans aren’t the only ones to suffer from forest fires. The animals who live there also lose their homes and livelihood, with no way of foraging for food or getting to safety. Many of the animals who endure forest fires don’t survive, but sometimes a miracle can happen. Freddy the tortoise was caught in a forest fire and ended up with burns on her front legs and all over her shell. She had been starving for as long as forty-five days before she had been found and taken in to be provided with medical attention. Over the next few days, pieces of her shell started to fall off, and she ended up suffering with pneumonia twice. However, a Brazilian 3D designer, Cicero Moraes, decided to use the power of printing technology to make Freddy a new shell. Take a look at this video! There’s something to be said for baby animals who just want to play. They’re like toddlers, and they don’t really take no for an answer. Their persistence can sometimes get in the way of us needing to do our work, but it’s hard to ignore them when they’re so adorable. All this baby panda wants to do is play, and when a photographer enters their enclosure, he’s discovered the face of his new best friend for the day. The man just wants to get some pictures of them playing together, but the cub is insistent on getting some attention from him. He seemingly sneaks up on the guy and tackles his leg, to no avail, and continues to follow him around for the duration of the video. Take a look at this video! Conditions can crop up in a pet that we can never really foretell. They can become costly to deal with, but taking care of them ensures that they will always feel loved and never have to look for a new home. But not for Henry. The nine-year old Cairn Terrier was recently given up by his family because they weren’t capable of dealing with his skin allergies. Taking one look at his face reveals that his life has never really been easy. With no hair on his body from a lack of treatment and only one eye, it’s a good thing he’s been given up by his family so that he can get a better chance at life. When we see moths in the house, we panic. It means that their larvae has probably eaten holes in our favorite clothing, meaning that they’ll have to be replaced. The last thing you’d ever think a moth could be is cute, since they can grow to be quite large and aren’t all that attractive to look at. When it comes to therapy dogs, they can be some of the brightest pooches in the world. They have to be in order to help their humans with whatever tasks they need. They have to learn so many different commands that it requires them to pay attention and use their natural instincts to provide the assistance that these people are looking for. Dagger is one of those therapy dogs who has done well in his training and is on his way to becoming a therapy dog for Canine Companions for Independence. He’s had to go through a lot of tests in order to get to where he is now, but one of the things he loves doing more than anything else is painting. He showed an interest in watching his owner and trainer paint, and she decided to make it easy for him to join her in the activity as well. Having a pet in your home means taking care of them in any way you can. There’s no reason to have them if you’re only going to neglect them or abuse them, because they could always be somewhere else in a happier home. Thankfully, for this dog, his rescue came just in time before something terrible could have happened. The German Shepherd had been left alone in an apartment in Egypt, chained up to a balcony for days and without any food or water. She was so desperate for food that she tried to jump off the balcony to escape. Stray dogs can end up having a lot of puppies, and these dogs then continue to have more litters of their own, because they’re not being spayed and neutered. This can cause havoc to people who aren’t fond of animals and don’t want them around their property. But on Lane No. 3, Krishnanagar in India, the people have always shown a fondness for animals, so much so that a woman even opened a local coffee shop that allows admittance to dogs so that they don’t have to be out in the cold at night. A four-year-old dog named Ammu had just given birth to a litter of puppies in a drain near a woman’s house. The woman, named Ponnamma, was outraged by this for some reason, and threw Ammu’s puppies into the empty lot across from her house. The impact of her actions was so great that some of their intestines were external. Throughout all of this, Ammu could be heard crying and wailing in protest, and circled the bodies of her dead puppies, trying to wake them up. The other people who lived o

Finding a stray puppy wandering the streets is not an easy thing to deal with, as you’re never sure if you can give it the help it needs. But doing something is better than doing nothing, and it could end up saving a life. The person recording this video discovered a puppy wandering around dazed along a busy road. He didn’t look like he was doing too well, so they decided to stop and see if they could help the poor pup out. Concerned that he would run into the street if they made any moves towards him, they sat there for an hour until he seemed comfortable and approached him carefully. Take a look at this video They discovered that he was covered in fleas and ticks, and the vet prescribed some medicated shampoo for his demodectic mange. Coming across an animal in your backyard can be a special treat. It’s made even more special when they let you get close to them. But this little boy probably gets the most unique experience that every kid probably dreams about. While outside with his parents, there’s a very calm deer just standing in the middle of their flowers. She doesn’t move even when the little boy gets close to her, as if she can sense that he doesn’t mean her any harm. When he tries to reach for the watering can, she reaches out and gives his little ear a nibble. He doesn’t know what to make of that and steps back. He just wants to tend to his garden, but she seems more adamant about scoping him out. Dumping your pets at the side of the road does more harm than good. Not only are they confused, but they have no way of defending themselves. And if they run into traffic, that can make matters even worse. One man decided he no longer wanted his three little dogs and dumped them at the side of the road with just a bag of bread. Apparently, he didn’t get the manual on what you’re supposed to feed dogs. Thankfully, Hope for Paws was on the scene to rescue these pooches, and managed to get them all rounded up without a lot of hassle. They named the three little dogs Charlie, Nessie and Dee-Dee and brought them in to get medical attention to ensure that they were in healthy condition. Police officers are meant to protect us, as well as those who live in our homes with us. Resorting to violent means should never be an option, especially when there is no threat being posed. Sadly, this is a story that is heard almost every other day, and we don’t know what we can do to stop it. Two police officers entered a building of apartments in Bronx, New York, when they were responding to a call. Surveillance footage reveals that Spike, a dog, wanders out into the hallways and starts happily barking at the two men. His wagging tail should be an indication of his state of mind, but the police officer, who remains unnamed, decided differently, and opened fire on the poor pooch. All it took was a single round at blank point rage to the dog’s head to put Spike down, and he ended up dying in a pool of his own blood. It’s baffling what some wild animals can endure on their own. Their lives are difficult enough, and there’s no need for human hands to make them even harder. But it seems the human race will do just about anything to ensure that they remain at the top of the food chain when it comes to living in other animals’ territories. The staff at Animal Rescue Team recently rescued a coyote who had endured the worst. She had survived a 30-foot plunge into one of California’s largest rivers, endured dehydration, had exposure to poison and, even took gunshot to the head. The gunshot had rendered her blind, which was probably how she fell into the river in the first place. Stray cats have pretty tough lives, and it can be a hassle to capture them so that they can get the necessary medical treatment to keep them alive. Feral cats continue to be a big problem, and it’s made even worse when these felines aren’t spayed and neutered. It only adds to the population, and it can quickly get out of hand. Sophia was a stray cat who was turned in to a local animal shelter. To add to her problems, she was also pregnant. That created a problem that needed to be fixed, as her kittens needed nutrition. They decided that they would provide her with nutrients via a feeding tube.
