This is the saddest video I’ve watched today, honestly. Being a pet parent myself, I find it very uneasy to accept that someday they’ll be gone and we will be forced to move on. Really their only fault is that they don’t survive as long as we do. But there’s one thing this video tells us – no matter how old they get, no matter how long they’re gone, they will always be your best friend. Of course it’s easy said than done, and I accept that myself, there’s only one wish I make – their health, their happiness. Stories of redemption always seem to touch our hearts. When the underdog falls we always want to see them fight back to the top and rise again. Well that’s exactly what a program in Colorado allows abused and neglected dogs and prison inmates do together in an idea that’s had ingenious consequences. In the program inmates who remain trouble free for six months are allowed to enter into a working relationship with abused animals brought in by the prison. They then nurture and care for the dogs until they are well enough for adoption. This process has taught even the hardest of inmates, such as Cynthia who was convicted of murder and jailed for life, the rewards compassion and tenderness can bring people. Dogs can form incredible bonds with each other that can withstand the test of time. Abandoned dogs that live on the streets and have these connections are even better, as they have someone they can rely on when times get rough. But being a stray doesn’t come without a price. They’re more at risk of being hit by a car, and that’s exactly what happened here. This small white dog had been hit by a car on the highway, and it would have been left for dead had it not been for its canine companion. The larger dog managed to drag the poor pup onto a less busy street where there were fewer chances of getting hit again, and decided to sit and wait, hoping that someone would take notice and provide some assistance. But Pen Pals is starting to change the lives of many prisoners by giving them someone else to care about and have responsibility for. Many of the staff at these prisons have watched some of the toughest men start to come out of their shells and have become a little more friendly since they started caring for these animals who have no homes. Rocky the horse as all alone when he was taken in. He had no other horse siblings to play with in the field, leading to a very lonely existence. But never underestimate the bonds of friendship that can be formed with other animals. Rocky’s owner decided to adopt a dog to help the horse out, and the horse couldn’t be happier. Callie and Rocky are now the best of friends and wander around the pasture together, watching each other’s backs. They even share a drink of water together after a day of rough housing. These two friends would sleep, drink, eat and even play together despite the massive different in their size. They had been best friends for nearly 10 years then one day Bella suffered a severe back injury, so the sanctuary decided to keep Bella inside the office to care for her. For three weeks, Bella was inside and it was during those three weeks that Tarra stood at outside waiting for her friend. Take a look at this video! The bond between a military dog and its handler appears nigh-unbreakable, as one former soldier has shown. Recently, an Afghanistan war veteran paid tribute to his black Labrador, Treo, who was by his side during the conflict. He got a tattoo made out of Treo’s ashes after he died. Dave Heyhoe/Facebook Sergeant Dave Heyhoe, 46, said Treo was a bomb detection dog who retired a few years ago but died in October 2015, according to  MailOnline . He said the dog’s death devastated his wife, Rachel as well as their three children. Heyhoe, who was the dog’s handler, immortalized Treo by getting the ash tattoo, which includes a pawprint, on his leg. “The tattoo completes me,” he said. “People might think it’s strange, but Treo was like a son to me, and his death his knocked me for six.” (Note: “Knocked for six” is English slang meaning one is totally devastated. A routine call for one Florida police officer turned into an adorable life-changing moment. Officer Marcus Montgomery from the Fort Walton Beach Police Department responded to a call regarding a former employee at the Panhandle Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) on Jan. 26, ABCNews reports . But as the official police business was finishing up, Montgomery locked eyes with a very adorable puppy. “As soon as I saw him, I said ‘don't bring him in here or else I will take him home right now,'" Montgomery told ABC News. Can you guess who eventually went home with a puppy? There’s really no mystery as to how dogs earned their reputation as “man’s best friend.” But below is a great example of how! This is a story of a dog named Nala that can be found at the retirement home. Nala is a five-year-old teacup poodle helping to cheer up the seniors at the Lyngblomsten care center in St. Paul, MN. Pet owner is Doug Dawson he is a medications assistant at the nursing home, and he also brings Nala everyday to work. He says he doesn’t see her until the end of the day. When they stroll through the front entryway, the puppy goes to the elevator and starts to make her rounds as the center’s unofficial angel. Nala has no formal training as a therapy pet, but instinctively knows to check on the elderly residents and appears to love sitting on their laps and cuddling close to them. Many of the residents believe this dog is is a blessing from above and after seeing this video, I think you’ll concur.

A little over six months ago, nobody was certain if Rosie the kitten would live. However, thanks to Lilo the Husky, Rosie made a spectacular recovery and is now a happy member of the family.
