People will drop their dogs off at shelters for a variety of reasons, including moving, allergies, or the pet just wasn’t working out for their living arrangements. But this reason will probably make you both mad and sad at the same time. Nik Nak was abandoned at a shelter, simply because he was “too yucky.”

The owners even suggested that the dog should be put down and that the world would be a better place without him. What an awful thing to say! Thankfully, this canine is no longer in their care and can get some real love for a change. They gave Nik Nak his very first bath, and treated his skin so that he’d have less scabs on his face.

With a foster mom to take care of him, Nik Nak got better each day as his fur started to come back in, and soon found a forever home with his foster mama. Share away, people!
