It can be difficult not to fall in love with every animal at a shelter. They’re all in need of good homes and walking home without them can leave us feeling guilty much of the time. But one such couple couldn’t bear the thought of leaving this cat alone one more time, and it ended up being the best decision of their lives.
A couple went to a shelter several times and instantly fell in love with a cat who had already been there four months without being adopted.
It turned out that the cat had some medical conditions that it seemed not a lot of people were interested in taking care of. It broke their hearts every time they walked away, but they finally caved and decided to take the cat home with them forever.

Named Leo, the cat instantly took to them once they brought him home. On day one, he even took a nap with his fur papa on the couch, snoring together like it was going out of style.

Eventually, Leo’s medical problem needed to be taken care of. He required surgery to remove some of his teeth due to a gum infection, and has recovered nicely since then.

The couple recommend adopting older cats to anyone who wants to bring a new life into their home, as they’re less likely to find forever homes of their own.
