Humans aren’t the only ones to suffer from forest fires. The animals who live there also lose their homes and livelihood, with no way of foraging for food or getting to safety. Many of the animals who endure forest fires don’t survive, but sometimes a miracle can happen. Freddy the tortoise was caught in a forest fire and ended up with burns on her front legs and all over her shell.
She had been starving for as long as forty-five days before she had been found and taken in to be provided with medical attention. Over the next few days, pieces of her shell started to fall off, and she ended up suffering with pneumonia twice. However, a Brazilian 3D designer, Cicero Moraes, decided to use the power of printing technology to make Freddy a new shell.

They even got the artist Yuri Caldera to paint a new design on her shell so that it would look more natural. You go, Freddy! Share away, people!
