Dog Refuses To Break His Bond With Dead Owner Even After Five Years

There is one incredibly faithful dog living in Malu Mare, Romania. We all know that dogs have an unprecedented level of loyalty to their owners, and we’ve all heard stories attesting to this. Dogs that get lost from home frequently find their way back to their owners even years after being away from home.

Others will die trying to save their owners from criminals or hazardous events like house fires. Well, this dog in Romania has been guarding this very spot outside his home for the past five years — all while his owner has been dead. The dog has been accepting food from villagers, but he won’t let anyone come near the home.

It’s sad and touching to see this dog so dedicated to loving his owner that has gone away. We all hope that he comes to terms with this situation so he can live a happy life being loved by new owners. In the meantime, we wish him luck with his extended vigil. Share away, people.

Speak out against the cruel dog meat trade

Much of the world sees dogs as their trusted companions, but in parts of Asia they suffer terribly as victims of the trade in dog meat for human consumption. In some Asian countries, dogs used for this industry are mostly stolen pets and they are sometimes tortured before being slaughtered. The dog meat trade is not only cruel, but is also linked to the spread of rabies and other diseases. HSI is working with local organizations in South Korea, China, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, Indonesia, and India to sensitize the public about the harmful dog meat trade that thrives in these countries. We actively shut down farms in South Korea, assist farmers as they transition to more humane livelihoods, support our local Chinese partners in intercepting dog meat traders’ trucks, fund the care of confiscated and rescued animals and lobby for better laws throughout Asia.
