Vet Introduces Mama To Her Puppies One By One. Now Watch When The Camera Zooms Out!

African Boerboel is also known as the South African Mastiff. Bailee, a 4-year-old African Boerboel is a new momma – to 19 puppies! Dr. Aimee Johnson at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine had done radiographs on Bailee, and the results showed at least 14 or 15 puppies.

Although 19 is a huge litter, it is not the biggest litter on record. Guinness World Records has the largest litter at 24 puppies born in the United Kingdom in 2004. Doctors decided that a C-section was the safest way to deliver Bailee’s puppies. One puppy didn’t make it during delivery, and one other passed a few weeks later. But Bailee has her – paws full with 17 bouncing, healthy pups!

The new family stayed the hospital for one month and were fed every four hours. Once the puppies are 8-weeks-old, they will be put up for adoption. Here’s to the new family! Share away, people!
